Rev. John J. Vander Schaaf (1916-1922)

Rev. John J. Vander Schaaf came to Bethel Reformed on February 7, 1916 from Spring Lake, Minnesota. Mrs. Vander Schaaf was the former Ada Marie Mulienburg.
During his ministry 51 were received on confession, 58 by certificate, 90 children and 3 adults were baptized. During WWI seventeen young men went to the service. All came back unharmed.
His home was very simply furnished. The young people collected money and presented it to the pastor for something in their home. They expressed their thanks, but esired to give the money for missions. He was a very mission minded person.
They had two sons and three daughters namely, Merill John, Ada Marie, Anna Laura, Rugh Selina, and Robert Samuel.
He left this community on June 26, 1922.
